Additional Note: A standalone generative AI (genAI) app is an app whose primary function is to interpret users’ prompts using a large language model (LLM) generative AI system and to output text or media. Examples of standalone genAI apps include Character.AI, ChatGPT, Claude, DeepSeek, Google Gemini, Grok, Microsoft Copilot, Perplexity, and Poe. Usage of genAI tools via browser apps (e.g., GoogleChrome, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, and Safari) and via search apps (e.g., Google’s AI Mode in Google Search, Bing/Copilot conversational search in Bing) is excluded. A mobile app is a software app that is developed for use on mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets. Smartphones are any voice handset with an advanced operating system (e.g., Android, BlackBerry, iOS, Windows Phone, etc.) and features/capabilities that resemble a PC.
